International Mother Earth Day, on 22 April, promotes harmony with nature and reminds us of the importance of protecting all the different ecosystems and species on our planet.

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents. I should be incapable of drawing a single stroke at the present moment.

Protecting Earth’s environment translates to sustained efforts to bring back plants and animals from the brink of extinction, reducing greenhouse gases, aggressive steps to reduce fossil-fuel use, regenerating natural water sources, better waste management, and many other steps.
